A SUCCESSFUL STORY ABOUT ASELA EDSON
Asela Edson is a girl. She was born on 26.02.2023 at Kaigara Health Centre in Muleba District. She was born with a disability (cleft lips) as you see her on the picture. After birth parents were not happy because of the disability the child had. Relatives and neighbors were not happy too because of that disability (cleft lips)
The nurse told parents to take their child to Bugando Hospital for treatment but parents did not take their child to hospital because they had no money. Asela’s Parents are poor peasants who cultivates food crops .
Parents came in our CBR office for requesting treatment support. CBR arranged well treatment plan. Asela was referred to the hospital for treatment. CBR paid all treatment costs including fare to hospital, Food, drinks and accommodation, laboratory investigation and medicine costs.
Asela was treated well, parents, siblings relatives, and neighbors were happy. All community members became aware that cleft lips can be treated well. All community members promised CBR that they will be good ambassadors of all children who will be born with cleft lips, That community members will be referring those children to our CBR office immediately.
